Barter for rent
From BarterPlan Ebook
There are many opportunities to barter for a home space, and sometimes even for fresh, delicious, healthy meals as part of the package. Literally thousands of small farms, many of which are community oriented, need more gardeners. The direction this economy is going, more and more people will be growing food. Help them! If you aren't into gardening, there's also plenty of people who will trade food and rent for home improvement, child care, cooking, cleaning, programming?, etc. Especially if you've got a camper, or don't mind living in a tent, there's a spot for able and willing workers. Service is key.
Remember that attitude is important, because nobody likes to barter anything (especially their kitchen) with crabby or negative people.
With a positive attitude and solid work ethic, you'll always be invited back. Remember, do unto others and all of that.
The more skills you have to offer the better.
The more you research and select your barter partners the better.
The more you're willing to co-operate the better.
